Back in the eighties, my parents would buy 2000AD for me and one of my favourite characters was Rogue Trooper. So, when Amazon recommend a few volumes collecting together the epic adventures of Rogue, Helm, Bagman and Gunnar, it was a nearly instant purchase. The first volume is called The Future of War and what I had forgotten was the level of violence and graphic nature of the stories, which always finished by providing a moral that war is a very bad thing. Interestingly, this wasn't the memory I had from my childhood, all I really remember was the storyline called "Poison", where our hero, a superman was almost defend by a tiny green plant. Weird, but true!
I could not get volume two, so I purchased volume three, it did not matter as every Rogue Trooper comic starts with a "previously on Rogue Trooper". Unfortunately that is where I started to get bored and that isn't the collections fault, it more that if you take a weekly four or five page comic strip and tag them to together, its hard to read the same information over and over. Volume one is definitely a collectors item, but not sure if I can handle reading all the volumes.
